Aerospace technology in a smart gym

Sintesi’s mechanism is based on the Dynamic Vectoring patent, which supports the natural movements of the human body, electronically adapting the innovative smart gym to every type of exercise.

This allows users to simulate different types of exercise, such as free-weight training, or any machine typically used in the gym.

The Akuis smart gym has digitised traditional weight training, using a series of electromagnetic motors to generate fully customisable resistance and to reproduce the effects of gravity. This allows the machine to simulate different types of load: constant, viscous, elastic, eccentric, isometric, magnetic, vibrating, isokinetic and random. This innovative training format can be used in both the sports and rehabilitative fields.

Intermittent vacuum therapy –IVT- applies alternating negative
pressure (vacuum) and positive pressure to the lower
extremities up to the abdomen. Physiologically this creates a
rhythmic vascular dilation and compression and stimulates the
>>flow<< in a natural, purely physical way. The result is better
circulation, more capillarisation and an increase in the venous
and lymphatic return. The central nervous system is also stimulated.
The treatment is completely pain-free independent of the
disease and its stage, as it functions without compression. The
patient remains totally passive. Undressing is not necessary.

A powerful, cost-effective method for improving circulation in all stages of peripheral arterial occlusive diseases. The innovative wound healing acceleration for diabetic foot syndrome and chronic wounds (arterial, venous and mixed). As passive vascular training it brings capillarisation into action, thus extending walking distances and reducing pain.

Inspired by space medicine

The technological origin of IVT lies in the space medicine of the American NASA. In the weightlessness of the orbit the astronauts have to undergo a negative pressure treatment in an LBNPD (Lower Body Negative Pressure Device) every ten hours to avoid orthostatic complications. This is the only way to ensure sufficient blood circulation in the lower extremities in spite of a lack of gravity. The further development of the LBNPD is the VACUMED® Flow Regeneration System. The device was developed at the Institute for Space Medicine of the Germany Aerospace Centre (DLR). The main areas of use are cardio-vascular stimulation and revascularisation. IVT is also recognised as a modern, cost-effective therapy for lymph- and lipoedemas. In a different form the method is also used to boost post-traumatic or post-operative rehabilitation (VACUSPORT® device) or as pain therapy for the arms, neck and shoulders (VACUMED® A.N.S. device). High tolerance, high patient benefit and the positive effect on the profitability of the medical facility are documented.

Make it easy

The treatment parameters of the innovative IVT are almost freely variable intervals of negative and normal pressure phases and the variable intensity of the negative pressure. So the arterial, venous or lymphatic flow can be triggered in a differentiated way functionally and depending on the indication.

Several different indication-specific treatment programmes are available. They run automatically at the press of a button. The pre-programmed settings are based on the experience of over 100,000 applications. This guarantees best practice and makes the therapy not only successful but also simple, safe and delegable.

A treatment takes between 30 and 40 minutes depending on the indication. The application is almost contact-free and is always perceived as pleasant by the patient. In pain therapy for peripheral arterial diseases or in the treatment of chronic wounds eight to 16 sessions within a period of three to six weeks are prescribed. Inpatients can be treated daily with IVT.

Suitable for whom?

IVT with the patented VACUMED® device is used in vascular medicine (also vascular surgery) and in wound management. The locations are facilities for physiotherapy, diabetes centres, leg clinics, wound centres or rehab clinics with a focus on vascular medicine. Internal medicine practices are also possible. IVT reduces the costs for DRGs and has attractive invoicing models. The investment pays for itself surprisingly fast.
