Noxtec – Nitric Oxide Therapy

Nitric Oxide (NO) is a gaseous vasodilator used primarily to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension, delivered to the patient in a mixture with medicinal oxygen.

Description

Nitric Oxide Therapy

The nitric oxide therapy market has grown exponentially in recent years, concentrating first in neonatal intensive care units, then in pediatric and adult settings, and finally playing a key role during the last 2 years in the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

The increased use of Nitric Oxide, a powerful vasodilator, is linked not only to its effectiveness in terms of therapy response times, but above all to its localized action in the cardiopulmonary area, lowering blood pressure rapidly and avoiding interactions with other areas of the human body.

The first device for inhaled nitric oxide therapies, developed by Noxtec, has made it possible not only to monitor and manage the therapy in constant doses as the patient’s respiratory flow changes, but also to improve the safe management of the device through remote control systems and automatic calibration.

Automatic/manual dispenser and Nitric Oxide monitor

NOXtec 1000 automatically calculates the dose flow necessary to reach the desired PPM concentration, thanks to the disposable respiratory flow sensor that is installed in the patient’s breathing circuit. Alternatively, the dose rate can be set manually.

By continuously sampling the flow of the NO-O2 mixture delivered to the patient, the NOXtec 1000 is able to monitor the concentration of nitric oxide that the patient is receiving and whether it is within predetermined threshold values.

Semi automatic/manual dispenser

NOXtec 2000 semi automatically calculates the dose flow necessary to reach the desired PPM concentration, thanks to the disposable respiratory flow sensor that is installed in the patient’s breathing circuit. Alternatively, the dose rate can be set manually.

By continuously sampling the flow of the NO-O2 mixture delivered to the patient, the NOXtec 2000 is able to monitor the concentration of nitric oxide that the patient is receiving and whether it is within predetermined threshold values.

NOXtec is able also to monitor the trace amount of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) in the mix, a highly toxic gas that can compromise patient safety during the application of the therapy, so that a predetermined threshold value is not exceeded.

NOXtec is able to calibrate automatically the NO, NO2 and O2 sensors, even when the device is dosing, leading to a significative reduction in management costs (standard devices on the market needs manual calibration).
